Elafonissi

Elafonisi is a small islet connected to the rest of Crete by a shallow reef that can be crossed when the sea is calm. Exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise waters, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. It's a Natura 2000 protected area, full of dunes with sand lilies and several rare animals.
